Welcome to Cape Fear Kayak Fishing
|

My name is Kaleb Dutil. I'm a kayak fisherman in Wilmington, NC. From time to time I will be posting fishing reports and articles on the latest kayak fishing gear. I am also the Cape Fear Chapter Coordinator for Heroes on the Water.
Heroes on the Water is a nonprofit charity that introduces members of the US Armed Forces and veterans who were wounded to the therapeutic benefits of kayak fishing. We coordinate with the nearest military bases and hospitals to set up outings with these heroes. We take them out for a day of kayak fishing at no charge to them. They benefit from this because it gets them out doing things and keeps there mind off of the everyday struggles they deal with. Along with the mental aspect of it they are also benefiting physically from this.
Being a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan I understand to some degree what these guys are going through and how good it is to get away from it all and just relax. After I got out of the Marines I wanted to give back. Having buddies in the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Lejeune I know how they hated being away from their unit and doing nothing but going to doctors appointments and physical therapy appointments. That's why I wanted to get involved with this charity. It provides them with the opportunity to escape from it all.
If you know any wounded vets or active military who would like to take advantage of this opportunity please have them CONTACT me and I will get them on the water and on to some fish.
